In this life we find ourselves overwhelmed by the current situations and circumstances we face. There are so many factors and aspects we have to deal with on a daily basis that it seems like we are always struggling to keep up, to stay ahead, and one step away from falling over in some area of our life….why is life that way and is there a way to improve the situation?
The answer is yes there is a way! As we move through life doing our daily tasks and routines, we are in a constant state of balancing between opposites. In the concept of Aikinen, we understand the primary form of the Yin Yang symbol which shows half of the energy of life is Yin or “dark side” and the other half is Yang or “light side.” All forms of energy manifested in the universe as we know it are some combination of these two primary forces of universal energy. The interplay and flowing energy between these two forces gives rise to all the reality we experience every day in our lives. Night becomes day, cold becomes hot, pull becomes push, sickness becomes health, are simple examples of Yin and Yang we can easily understand. The concept of Aikinen is the focusing of our concentration on intentionally balancing or harmonizing to the best of our ability these two forces in real time. This “Nen” or “Focus” is our ability to try to bring the conflict between the two opposing forces into a state of peace, equilibrium, and harmony.
From the time we wake up to the time we go to sleep we are in a continuous cycle or being influenced by the two primary forces of energy which are negative and positive (Yin and Yang). Most of us strive continuously to maintain ourselves on one side of the pole, or the positive side. We all want the best positive things like the best health, the best job, the best friends, the best spouse, the best foods, etc. None of us want the worst negative things like the worst health, the worst job, the worst friends, the worst spouse, the worst foods etc. Yet despite ALL of our best efforts, we find in time that our fantasy of having the perfect life with all the best things never seems to come around or we only experience it for moments or a season before things change again. We experience the best things for a time, then suddenly it changes and we find ourselves once again struggling with negative situations and reality. This is because our primary goal and understanding of how the universal energy or Ki/Chi works is not complete.
We need to understand that it’s not possible, nor desirable to always exist in at the most extreme Yang or Positive levels of the Ying Yang symbol as shown below. Eventually that highly positive situation wears off, the cycle turns and once again we find ourselves in a negative cycle that builds to some negative conclusion. Conversely we shouldn’t expect our negative situations to last forever either….but over time the negative situation will eventually turn positive once again. This ebb and flow between positive and negative energy in our life will never cease, so what can we do about it to improve our situation?
This leads us back to the concept of “Finding the Center Point.” This means that the true peace, the true harmony, and the “enlightened” place we need to be is not on either extreme of the two poles of positive and negative energy, but rather we need to be at the center point. It is at the center point where there is no conflict between the positive and negative energy in our life. Our life then becomes peaceful, balanced, and harmonious. This doesn’t mean that we don’t have negative or positive aspects in our life, they still always exist, but our mind focus or “Nen” is no longer on the suffering from our negative situations nor the joys or our positive situations. When we are balanced, and our “Nen focus” is on the center point, we can easily handle when the negatives and positives happen in real time. In this situation, our energy is optimized at the center point which leads to us experiencing perfect balance and consequently peace and harmony.
So to achieve “peace” and “harmony” which are the highest goals of all, we need to continuously rebalance or refocus ourselves in every moment and in every situation. How do we do this? How do we keep ourselves centered and balanced?
The answer to that is to work on it. Just like when we all first learned how to ride a bike, we had to fall down a few times until we trained ourselves to balance on the bike. In the same way, one has to work continuously on balancing one’s mind, body, and spirit to achieve perfect balance.
The Aikinen models called “AikiTri” (AikinenMaxHealth, BusinessMaxHealth, ExecutiveMaxHealth) are the distillation of my understanding of how all the energies of Yin and Yang work together. Using these models, a very detailed program can be identified very quickly that is unique to each person. Every person has a different set of energies, circumstances, and situations. The AikiTri assessment questionnaires I’ve designed correctly identify the areas that need to be brought into balance using the Pareto Principle and an advanced understating of Aikinen philosophy.

Aikinen (Focused Optimized Energy) is based on the ancient concepts of "Aiki" and "Nen." "Aiki" means the optimizing or harmonizing of conflicting energies or processes to arrive at the best possible result and balance. "Nen" means the single minded focus on this goal.
