Executive Coaching FAQ

What is the role of an Executive Coach in regards to my leadership/development skills?

The role of an executive coach is to facilitate transporting the client from where they are in their executive health to where they want to be. This is accomplished via many methods and processes. A good executive coach works from where the client is currently in their existing state of executive success and management ability/talent and works with the executive to assist them in discovering the ways they can vastly improve their leadership qualities.

Do I have to sign a contract to work with an executive coach?

Every executive coach designs their own business plan. At Aikinen, no contracts need to be signed to receive executive coaching. If the client wants to see any meaningful benefit and improvements in their executive leadership and development, however, the usual duration of coaching is a minimum of 6 months to 1 year of coaching sessions.

How often do I meet with my executive coach?

The recommended minimum for coaching sessions with an executive coach is one time per month. However, some clients want to make progress much faster and so the frequency can be 1 time per week or 2 times per month. Others on a more restricted budget may only be able to meet once per quarter or less frequently.

How do I pay for coaching sessions?

Payment options for coaching sessions are by company/personal check. cash, or credit card.

Can I buy a block of coaching sessions in advance?

Yes, blocks of coaching sessions can be purchased in advance.

Where and how do I meet with my executive coach?

Every person is different and so is their schedule and requirements. I am available to meet in person in some geographical areas I cover in the Bay Area and/or coach in a variety of ways and locations. I can meet at the client's office or home, either during or after business hours, or at a park, or a coffee shop, or wherever the client feels comfortable and can show up. For efficiency of time, however, sometimes by phone call is best for some clients, but I do like to see my clients face to face periodically for a session to stay connected.

How long should I work with my executive coach and continue sessions?

How long someone will continue with coaching sessions is dependent on their individual goals and ambitions. The Aikinen AikiTri models are the most comprehensive and robust coaching models in the entire market. Each AikiTri model has a total of 85 inputs/concepts built into it. Each input and concept is designed to be one coaching session. So if one were to go through the entire model, which I recommend, that would be 85 coaching sessions total. Depending on the frequency of sessions this could be done in around 1.5 years on a weekly schedule to 7 years on a monthly schedule. A client may want to work on both the executive and health models simultaneously or in alternation, or the executive and business models, or all three. There is also an Advanced Aikinen Coaching model that can be worked on as well. Some clients may just want to do executive coaching sessions for example in an attempt to educate themselves using the Aikinen executive materials and to prepare themselves to become an executive and try to get a promotion at work. Or another person may want to do the business coaching sessions to try to learn some new additional business skills and methods. There are many options and paths available. Contact me and we can discuss the best options based on your goals.
